Kaunertal Scenic Road

A unique mountain landscape is hidden in the rear Kaunertal valley, which presents its visitors with a constantly changing natural spectacle. Your way there leads along the Kaunertal scenic road, which has been embedded into its surroundings with great sensitivity and respect for the natural terrain. Like a meandering ribbon, it winds its way from the valley floor up to the glacier centre at 2,750 m above sea level.

The Kaunertal Scenic Road is open 365 days a year. From the glistening white Winter into the colourful blossoming spring, from the lush green Sommer into the golden autumn: A magnificent play of colours awaits you in every season Nowhere can you experience the changing seasons more impressively than along the Kaunertal Scenic Road!

Safety note:
The Kaunertal Scenic Road is also accessible in winter The road service is regularly on duty, but the high mountain road should only be used with winter equipment (winter tyres, snow chains) in the autumn and winter months. Our Road Report informs you on a daily basis if the weather conditions require the Kaunertal scenic road to be closed.

Kaunertal Scenic Road: tolls & prices

Start your trip to the Glacier Panorama Road well informed! In this overview you will find all the information about the toll on the Kaunertal scenic road – prices for cars, buses and motorbikes as well as exceptions and important information:

  • 1-day ticket car 28.- // e-car 23.-
  • 7-day ticket 55.-

Prices valid for cars and minibuses up to max. 5 persons, for each additional person the passenger toll will be charged. In the case of a mixed car (skier and pedestrian), the passenger toll is charged for pedestrians.

  • 1-day ticket motorbike 18.- // e-motorbike 13.-
  • 7-day ticket: 35.-
    Prices valid per motorbike (max. 2 persons)
  • 8.- passenger toll per person/day

The bus fee is based on the number of persons actually transported, whereby the bus driver and tour guide are free. However, this is subject to the condition that the ticket office staff have the opportunity to check this information. If the number of persons stated is incorrect, the group price will be charged for the number of seats stated on the admission ticket.

  • The toll for the Kaunertal Scenic Road is already included in the ski pass for skiers.
  • In the case of a mixed car (skier & pedestrian), pedestrians pay the passenger toll. Children up to the age of 8 do not pay the toll.
  • Bus drivers and tour guides travel free of charge.
  • The toll prices apply for the outward and return journey.
  • Hire and rental vehicles can only purchase the day toll card.
  • The toll tickets are not transferable.
  • Alternatively, you can use our free ski bus.

the Kaunertal Scenic Road

The Kaunertal Scenic Road is approx. 26 km long and leads deep into the fascinating mountain world of the rear Kaunertal. In addition to the glacier ski area, it opens up large parts of the Kaunergrat Nature Park. From the valley station in Feichten past the Gepatsch Reservoir up to the edge of the glacier, it climbs an impressive 1,500 metres. On the way, you pass through all 6 alpine altitude levels – from lush green meadows to eternal ice.

Your motorbike tour through the Kaunertal glacier panorama is rounded off with an overnight stay in one of the biker-friendly hotels in the area.

In the Kaunertal region, camping is only permitted at officially authorised campsites.
There are no campsites directly on the Kaunertal Scenic Road.
Camping along the road is therefore prohibited. Campsites in the Kaunertal glacier region are located in Platz/Kaunertal, Prutz and Ried.
